2008 Ducati Monster S4RS Tricolore

The Ducati Monster (called Il Mostro in Italian is a muscle bike designed by Miguel Angel Galluzzi and produced by Ducati in Bologna, Italy, since 1993. It is a naked bike, characterized by an exposed engine and frame.

The trellis frame in the Ducati Monster is an integral part of the motorcycle's design allowing for both aesthetic appeal and for structural efficiency. In 2005, Monster sales accounted for over half of Ducati's worldwide sales. Ducati motorcycles use 90° V-twin engines, which they call L-twins, with desmodromic valves, and tubular steel trellis frame, designed by Fabio Taglioni.

The Monster line has had numerous variations over the years, from entry level 400 cc bikes up to top of the line 160 hp multivalve, water-cooled superbike-engined versions, with as many as nine different Monster versions in a single model year. The Monster's elemental simplicity has also made it a favorite platform for custom motorcycle builders, showcased at competitions like the Monster Challenge. Monsters eventually accounted for two-thirds or more of Ducati's output.

Some of the most sought after Ducati models are the striking ‘Tricolore’ versions. Models like the F1 750, 851 and more recently the 1098 Tricolore, produced in limited quantities, represented the best-of-the-best and now enjoy legendary status.

In 2008, Ducati produced a Special Edition S4R S in the bold Tricolore color scheme. True to its legacy, the S4R S Tricolore epitomizes the essential soul of Ducati.

It was called “THE FLAGSHIP” by Ducati and we have one for sale at Skyway Motors. These were Limited Edition Monster’s as only 400 were made.

Its Italian design heritage was expressed by the colors of the Italian flag and its sporting heart could not be better represented than by the racing technology and absolute racing performance it embraces. The Monster S4RS Tricolore, true to its name. the flagship of the Monster family.

The Monster Superbike has a liquid-cooled, 4-valve per cylinder, 998 Testastretta L-Twin engine that features a 100mm bore and short stroke of 63.5mm to limit average piston speed and allow increased rpm. The result is a staggering 130hp and 76.6 lb-ft of brute torque.

Testastretta technology allows a reduced angle between the intake and exhaust valves resulting in a clean, compact combustion chamber that is highly efficient. The optimised combustion environment and linear flame front inside the specially designed heads, combined with cutting-edge electronic engine control technology, guarantees precise and optimal combustion throughout the rev range.

The chassis components are unparalleled. Fully adjustable Öhlins suspension front and rear complemented by super lightweight Y-shaped 5-spoke wheels ensure outstanding handling, while 320mm Brembo twin discs on the front have radial-mounted calipers with four pistons and four pads per caliper to provide incredible race-worthy stopping power.

And to make this Monster look and feel even more exciting, ultra-light carbon fiber has been employed for the silencer cover, exhaust heat guard, front mudguard, radiator covers and cam belt covers.
