History

The 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air is a car which was introduced by Chevrolet in September 1956 for the 1957 model year. It is a one of the most popular and sought after classic car. These vehicles are often restored to their original condition and sometimes modified. The car's image has been frequently used in toys, graphics, music, movies and television. The '57 Chevy, as it is often known, is an automotive icon.

Why This Car Us Special

The 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible we have at Skyway Classics is all of the above. It has been restored in a way that keeps it looking stock but has the modifications that qualify it to be called a Hot Rod and a Cruiser all in one glorious red/white package.

Mechanical

Seeing is believing when I tell you the engine and the engine compartment is one of the best we have ever had in our 57. Just take a look at the modified 383 stroker motor and you will see it is almost all fitted with polished aluminum or chrome accessories from the intake to the valve covers, chrome radiator cover and air cleaner. It has a great idle with the cam and the headers give it a great exhaust note as they go out the rear of the dual exhaust system.

The Motor sits in the red painted body color engine compartment that is very detailed and has power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning, and an Air Ride suspension with custom controls inside. It is mated to a 700 R4 Automatic Transmission and then to a H.D. 10-bolt rear end.

Interior

We could go on-and-on about all the great things done to the interior, like the Hand Stitched two-tone red and white seat covers, matching door panels with power window controls and rear seats, the custom dash which is also body color matched an contains an assortment of aftermarket gauges and stereo radio, as well as all controls, red carpets and seat belts, Billet Flame steering wheel, and the custom red console containing the floor shifter.

Exterior

The super red paint on the classic lines of this 57 Chevy with its twin mirrors and bumper guards, the iconic 57 Chevrolet tail fins, the great chrome on the grille, front fender chevrons, hood, side trim, bumpers and trunk script are all terrific.
It also has A new white power top, period correct 5-spoke mag wheels and black wall tires really give this Bel Air a period-correct look.
