1968 Chevrolet Camaro
History
The first-generation Chevrolet Camaro appeared in Chevrolet dealerships in September 1966 for the 1967 model year on a brand-new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform and was available as a 2-door, 2+2 seat, hardtop or convertible, with the choice of either a straight-six or V8 engine. The first-generation Camaro was built through the 1969 model year.
Why This Car Is Special
All the resemblance to a stock powered Camaro ends with the 1968 Chevrolet Camaro we have here at Skyway Classics. The wineberry paint and cream custom interior along with the RS grille, racing wheels, tubbed rear end, and roll bar might be the first giveaway that you better not mess with this fine ride.
Mechanical
The powerplant in our 67 is a tried and true #3970010 350 small block Chevy with so much work done to it we can't list it all. But to start with it has aluminum intake, performance Holly carb, headers, chrome open air cleaner, Edelbrock valve covers, huge radiator, extra cooling fans for both the engine and the transmission, PS, PB, chrome alternator, MSD ignition and distributor, and more.
There is a custom fuel cell in the trunk plumbed into performance fuel filters and fuel pump under the truck to send the fuel up to the engine. The spent gas comes back to the rear from the headers.
The suspension is reworked with performance axles in the shortened 12-bolt rear end, coil-over shocks, and a modified Cheetah Shifted 2-sped Powerglide auto transmission makes this Camaro a force to be reckoned with. Running on Mickey Thompson tires and racing mags out back and skinny tires on racing wheels in the front, this 68 has a mean stance too.
Interior
Start with a complete tan leather bucket seat interior with tan carpet, add a tubbed sheet metal rear, and a roll cage. The throw in Auto Meter Gauges on the custom console with the Cheetah shifter on the floor, a tack, wood steering wheel, and you have the recipe for one cool Camaro.
Exterior
The styling of the 1968 Camaro has Astro Ventilation, a fresh-air-inlet system where the side vent windows were deleted. It has a more pointed front grille and divided rear taillights, an RS front end and grill with Hide-Away headlights, SS gas cap, chrome hood inserts that imitate velocity stacks, and a rear spoiler all on a nice body painted in Wineberry that looks great.
Conclusion
If you want a street/strip muscle car Camaro, then look no farther than the 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Pro Street we have at Skyway
Classics. It is not only great looking, but has all the right setups that a true Pro Street Camaro should have.
