Amazing 1965 Pontiac GTO
History
The Pontiac GTO is an automobile that was built by American company Pontiac in generations from 1964 to 1974 model years.
The first generation GTO was a muscle car of the 1960s and 1970s era, the Pontiac GTO is considered by some to have started the trend with all four domestic automakers offering a variety of competing models.
For 1965 model years, the GTO was an optional package on the intermediate-sized Pontiac (VIN 237). The 1965 GTO we have at Skyway Classics is verified by the decoding of the Trim Tag on the firewall. (See pictures) This GTO also has PHS documentation too.

Why This Car Is Special
Our GTO has been recently restored with great attention to detail. The spectacular GTO comes fitted with many factory options including console, bucket seats, dual exhaust, Tri-Power, 4-speed transmission, and much more. This GTO has been beautifully restored and is just like it rolled off the showroom floor.
Car Life tested a 1965 GTO with Tri-Power and what they considered the most desirable options (close-ratio four-speed manual transmission, power steering, metallic brakes, rally wheels, 4.11 limited-slip differential, and "Rally" gauge cluster), and with two testers and equipment aboard, they recorded 0–60 miles per hour in 5.8 seconds, the standing quarter mile in 14.5 seconds with a trap speed of 100 miles per hour, and an observed top speed of 114 miles per hour at the engine's 6,000 rpm redline.
Mechanical Specs
The 389 in the 1965 engine received revised cylinder heads with re-cored intake passages and high-rise intake manifolds, improving breathing. Rated power increased in the Tri-Power engine to 360 horse at 5,200 rpm. This car was originally a WT 4bl car but the correct Tri-Power was added when motor rebuilt including hotter cam and H.D. internal parts.
This GTO needed some serious stopping with all this horsepower so the brake lining area increased nearly 15%. Heavy-duty shocks were standard, as was a stronger front antisway bar.
One look at the underside of our GTO and see the restoration of the frame and all running components too.
It rides on Hurst custom period mags and performance tires with a rumbling exhaust note from the dual exhaust.
Interior
The interior has been completely redone in factory correct parchment vinyl. It has power steering, power brakes, AM/FM Radio, and great wood and chrome trim. The dashboard design has an optional rally gauge cluster to monitor your engine.
Exterior
Our GTO is immaculate, picture will show that. It has Pontiac's characteristic vertically stacked quad headlights, hood scoop, egg-crate grille, great body lines and paint, fantastic trim and rubber.
Conclusion
This 1965 Pontiac GTO is for sale at Skyway Classics and is the right GTO for you very serious collectors. Buy this one in confidence as it is one of the best you will ever see.
