Description

1936 FORD FORDOR SEDAN

History

The Ford Model 48 was an update on Ford's V8-powered Model 40A, the company's main product. Introduced in 1935, the Model 48 was given a cosmetic refresh annually and those looks vaulted the company ahead of rival Chevrolet for the sales crown that year, with 820,000 sold.

Why This Car Is Special

The restored example 1936 Ford Fordor we have at Skyway Classics is a factory correct example of how simple the looks of the suicide doors makes this sedan into a cult vehicle. Style and function were at the top priority of production back then and this car is a wonderful example of those 30's era automobiles.

Mechanical

This 36 was restored with an eye toward authenticity and factory correct look and parts. It has the correct 221 CID flathead V8 with 85 hp and torque of 144 lb⋅ft, was completely rebuilt and the stock three speed transmission has also been gone through.
Ford's flathead V8 really needs no introduction, with this one being a correct 221 cubic inch version with the stock carburetor, wears proper green paint, Ford script coolant hoses, manifold, all the correct air cleaner assembly, with the Flathead in a clean and detailed engine compartment.

The three-speed manual gearbox shifts nicely and the car tracks straight. The undercarriage, while original, remains in good order. Beautiful spoke wheels with the Ford Flathead “V8” logo on the hubcaps ride on Firestone wide whitewalls to complete the look.

Interior

When you sit in the driver's seat, the tan and tweed bench seat interior is stunning with it's maroon dashboard and factory correct gauges that look and function beautifully. The rear seat looks just as nice as does the trunk area.
It has all the correct and functioning switches, lights, door handles, side panels, and headliner are perfect.

Exterior

The 1936 saw only minor changes from the previous year but they make a huge difference. The hood became longer and more pointed, and the grille was given a sharper V-shape. The spare tire is mounted outside on this sedan.

The fit and finish are great with excellent body lines, great chrome and grille, hood ornament, and side mirrors, and green pin stripe, compliment the classy black paint scheme.

Conclusion

This 1936 Ford 4-door sedan we have here at Skyway Classics is rare because they didn't build many of them and not many gets restored to this level. Take our word that this may be one of the nicest 1936 Fords on the planet.
