1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Custom
History
The Chevrolet Bel Air was a full-size car produced by Chevrolet for the 1950–1981 model years. Initially only the two door hardtops in the Chevrolet model range were designated with the Bel Air name from 1950 to 1952, as distinct from the Styleline and Fleetline models for the remainder of the range.
What Makes This One Special
The 1956 Bel Air like the Red/White one we have here at Skyway Classics received a face-lift with a more conventional full-width grille, pleasing those customers who didn't favor the Ferrari-inspired '55 front end. Distinctive two-tone bodyside treatments and graceful front and rear wheel openings completed the "speedline" restyling.
Ours has been modified with a look at more performance and streetability than one that is restored back to factory stock.
Mechanical
To begin with, the engine in this sharp 56 is a 1969 #3970010 350 cubic inch small Block Chevrolet that has a GM factory Quadrajet intake with a performance Edelbrock carb, factory cast iron exhaust manifolds, chrome Chevrolet valve covers and breathers, chrome open element air cleaner, performance spark plug wires and looms, performance radiator with electric cooling fan, and has power steering and power brakes. The 700R 4 Speed transmission really make this car so much m,ore drive able, too.
The Bel Air sits and rides on great performance tires with custom 5-spoke mag wheels and sounds great with the dual exhaust system running out the back of the car and the power running thru the automatic transmission.
Interior
When you open the doors you will find a gorgeous red and white plush pleated vinyl cockpit with matching bench seat and door panels, black dash with an assortment of Auto Meter gauges, stereo radio, great stainless dash trim, black and polished steering wheel, black seatbelts and carpets, and the column mounted shifter.
Exterior
Our 56 has a great combination of Matador Red and Adobe Beige paint certainly looks the part. Thanks to their killer curves of the Bel Air family really lend themselves to the paint and it looks great with great chrome and glass as you can see in the pictures. The body lines are great and include the stying cues that make this Tri-Five look so good. Single housings incorporated the taillight, stoplight, and backup light, and the left one held the gas filler to really ad to this 56's aesthetics.
Conclusion
Te 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air we have at Skyway Classics will provide you with a superb Tri-Five ride that's both comfortable, durable, fast, and safe as well as owning a professionally hot rodded 1956 that few are lucky enough to experience. Don't miss your chance to experience this incredible Chevy Bel Air.
