1972 Chevrolet El Camino SS Tribute
1972 Chevrolet El Camino SS Tribute
The El Camino is the Chevy counterpart to the Ford Ranchero and started its run in 1959. This 72 shares the same front end as the Chevelle, but gives you the ability to haul or tow.
Why This Car Is Special
This particular El Camino has been dressed up as a Super Sport with the SS taillight panel, cowl hood, rally stripes and SS badging. A great set of options and good power make this car a must add to your collection.
Mechanical
A 350 CID V8 sits under the cowl hood and has been beefed up with Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, Holley 4-barrel carburetor with electric choke, full length headers and a Flame Thrower coil. All of that power is backed by a 700R4 automatic transmission, which is the transmission of choice for cruisers and Power Tour participants. The power is then transferred to a 10-bolt rear end with stock trailing arm suspension with coil springs and shocks for a very nice ride. The front end is stock as well with coil springs and shocks with power disc brakes providing the stopping power.
Interior
A comfortable black vinyl bench seat seats 3 and is surrounded with options. Those options include A/C, AM/FM radio, Chevrolet embroidered floor mats, seat belts and tilt steering wheel. You can also feel the power steering and power brakes easing your ride from the driver's seat.
Exterior
Black paint with white rally stripes and a black vinyl roof give this El Camino a tough and clean look. American Racing Torque Thrust wheels look great wrapped in raised white letter BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. Not only do they look good, but they will put the power to the ground! The bed has been coated with a spray in bedliner, so it can actually be used. This is no trailer queen. Throw your cooler and lawn chairs in the back and head out to a pregame party, concert or car show without worrying about scratching the bed.
Conclusion
The 1971-72 Chevelles and El Caminos are climbing in value and sell fast. Especially when they look like this one. El Caminos are just plain cool. Is it a car or a truck? Is it a muscle car? Is it a good investment? Yes, to all those questions.
