Numbers Matching and Correct Color Combination Z28!
1973 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 LT
The Z/28 Camaro was built for Trans Am racing and originally used a 302, to stay under the SCCA guideline of 305 cubic inches or smaller. It was built to compete with Ford's Mustang.
Why This Car Is Special
This is a real Z28, for starters. It is restored back to its original color combination of Dark Red with a Black interior. The engine and transmission are original to the car and have partial VIN stampings to prove that.
Mechanical
The original 245 horsepower 350 CID V8 still sits under the hood and has been beefed up with an Edelbrock intake, full length headers and an HEI ignition. The engine stampings are (13N151303 – partial VIN stamping, which matches) and (V0221CLM – date code and suffix code which match). A billet radiator overflow works well and dressed up the engine compartment along with finned valve covers and a chrome air cleaner. Vintage Air A/C has been added with a clean install. Power steering and power brakes make this car a joy to drive. The power from the V8 is sent through the original, numbers matching 4-speed manual transmission (also has 13N151303 stamped into the case) and out to the 10-bolt rear end. This car has plenty of power, great handling and braking, and a killer exhaust note from the dual exhaust.
Interior
Correct black vinyl bucket seats with a center console and the 4-speed shifter on the floor let you know you're in a muscle car. An AM/FM/Cd player has been added and the A/C controls are not Vintage Air. Other than that, the interior is pretty well stock, and in great shape. The steering column is tilt so you can really make this car fit you.
Exterior
The exterior is also the factory correct color of Dark Red. It has rally stripes painted on and clear coated over. American Racing Torque Thrust wheels look great on everything, and this Camaro is no exception. Front and rear spoilers and a cowl hood give this car a menacing and sporty look, but that paint color is pure class. This was the last year before big bumpers came along for 1974-1978. The second-generation Camaro is considered by many to be the best looking Camaro ever built and this car makes it hard to disagree with that.
Conclusion
If you're looking for a correct and numbers matching REAL Z28 Camaro, give this one a close look. It won't last long as these Camaros are incredibly hot, and appreciating quickly right now.
