Incredibly Clean 1981 Chevrolet Corvette

History
The Chevrolet Corvette (C3) was a sports car that was produced by Chevrolet for the 1968 through 1982 model years. Engines and chassis components were mostly carried over from the previous generation, but the body and interior were new.
The 1981 Chevrolet Corvette was the fastest American made car in 1981 with 0-60 at 8.1. It weighed 3334 pounds, with Horsepower @ 190.

1981 was the first year Corvettes were ever produced in two factories at one time. The new Bowling Green, Kentucky plant produced its first Corvette on June 1, 1981 while the St. Louis plant was producing its last Corvettes. The last St. Louis Vette was produced on August 1, 1981.

All St. Louis Corvettes were painted with lacquer paints while the new Bowling Green plant had a brand new paint facility and used enamels with clear top coats.

Features & Options
This 1981 Two-Tone Silver/Blue Corvette we have at Skyway Classics was built at the Bowling Green, Ky Plant.

In 1981 the engine was a 350 cu in engine that, like the L-48 base engine the previous year, produced 190 horse, but was now designated the L81. Our 1981 Corvette came with a host of features including, Chrome air cleaner lid, cast magnesium valve covers, stainless steel exhaust manifolds, computer control system, auxiliary electric engine cooling fan, and fiberglass rear leaf spring.
The plush bucket seat interior compliments all the power functions on board with performance style gauges, audio system, thick carpet, center console, and rear storage area.

Engine Specifications featured the base engine RPO L81, which was a V-8, 90-degree Overhead valve, Cast iron block displacing 350 cid , The bore & stroke was 4.00 x 3.48, the compression ratio of 8.2:1 to make horsepower of 190 @ 4200 rpm and torque of 280 lb-ft @ 1600 rpm. Gas ran thru a tried and true Rochester Quadrajet carb. This is a very reliable engine more so than the 1982 Corvette which got the dreaded “Cross Fire Injection.”
