The very nice 1965 Poppy Red Mustang we have here at Skyway Classics is a rare 1st generation 1965 with the pony car styling. It has the long hood and short deck that proved wildly popular and inspired a host of competition including the Camaro, Firebird, Cougar and others.
It is an A-Code Mustang as listed in the Vin# and has been repainted the original color of Poppy Red. It was born on the 5th of February and had the optional 289 cubic inch 4V engine with a 3:00 to 1 rear and the 4-Speed Manual transmission.
Mechanical
Our Mustang has the optional A Code engine which was a 289 cubic inch with a 4-barrel carb that was listed at 225 horsepower. It is very nicely detailed with a chrome open air filter, chrome valve covers, aluminum intake and performance carb, air conditioning, painted engine block, all the correct hoses and wires, accessories, and all sitting in a factory correct, painted and detailed engine compartment.
Interior
The interior has a great black Pony Mustang twin front bucket seats with matching black rear seat, black carpet, floor mats, and door panels, great dash with all the factory instrumentation, Rally Pac gauges consisting of tach and clock, Mustang logo radio, black/chrome 3-spoke sport Mustang steering wheel, air conditioning, chrome console with the chrome 4-speed shifter and black shifter ball, wood dash trim, and pristine chrome and stainless trim.
Exterior
The 1965 Poppy Red paint on our Mustang is very nice and is complimented by all good chrome, 289 and Mustang emblems, correct Ford Mustang chrome 5-spoke wheels, raised white-letter Goodyear Eagle ST performance tires, and the great bumpers.
It has the Mustang white racing strip down both sides, the iconic louvers on the side of the fastback roof, chrome dual side mirrors, great glass and trim, and dual exhaust giving it as good a sound as it looks too.
